Ajit Desai, PhD

Ajit Desai is currently an adviser at the BIS Innovation Hub, Swiss Centre. His work focuses on using advanced technologies—including AI, tokenization, and quantum computing—to enhance domestic and cross-border payment systems. Before joining the BIS, Dr. Desai worked as a principal data scientist at the Bank of Canada's Banking and Payments Research. He holds a Ph.D. in Computational Science and Engineering from Carleton University and an M.S. in Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras.
